I see ancient stones, I imagine people living in the past. I try to imagine how people used to live in this place. I thought that they were very clever because they chose a very quiet and calm place, where the wind doesn’t blow and the sea is consequently calm. What I prefer the most is the sight/landscape with the two columns. For me, this place was shaped by the human hand; people just took advantage of the excellent position of this place. In fact, this place is called “Mare morto”, which means “Dead Sea”, because the wind always blows (only) very softly here. Maybe I would protect the columns, particularly the upper part, since they seem to be fragile because of their small decorations. When I am in this place I feel surrounded by charme and beauty, but also cleverness and peace.

Calm city of the past
i see a city of the past. my visual sense stands out the most definitely it’s very quiet, calm and peaceful. i smell the bug spray for now—the bugs are part of the experience. It reminds me of cagliari in a funny way. It had some steep slops and a bustling market. I imagine Tharros must have been like this at some point.

I've visited too many sites alone or with people who knew more than me. It was fun to be here with people who were legitimately curious but who I can teach.
Water
We walk into site the wrong way. Entering Tharros by the water, with all the paddleboarders, the salt on your skin rather than sweat, feels right.
Climate change
I love the little paddleboarders and the boats. But the shore feels fragile. The ocean has already come so much closer to site. What will climate change do?
Home sweet home
This place has been shaped by merchants, trade. Which in itself has been shaped by the natural environment. The streets, the houses are built on this environment.
Eery feeling
I hear thunder in the background. I am wondering how it must have been to hear thunder in the past. How would people in the past have heard thunder?
Sandstone
I processed a miniature version of this today. It feels different on site versus in a lab. I dont hate sandstone as much when it forms a wall, and is not just data to be processed.
An ancient city of mysteries
Beautiful scenery and a story waiting to be told It makes me think of how a flourishing city, akin to something like today’s New York City, could be abandoned and left to ruin. What could cause it? Is it sudden or gradual?
Buys
My bugspray stained the paper, and I love it. The smell is strong and absolutely not ancient. But I wonder how ancient people dealt with the bugs that have bothered me all day. August had the most deaths because of Malaria. Is the summer heat I feel meant to be complimented by women's wailing?
Small animal
I see a lizard. I am wondering how it is exploring the site, how its navigating the archaeological space. This space is actually their home now.
Return visitor
I remember last years workshop, and feel lucky to be able to come here more than once. This place reminds me of my first day here, walking around the corner and looking down on the site for the first time. Being wowed by the sea and mountains in the distance.
Balancing act
I’m warm. Isee things. I want care. I am beautiful.
Whispers
The land would want to tell me about all the people who have passed through this place, who built this place; who lived on this last over the centuries and millennia. What about the pre Roman, pre Punic people? Ancient prehistory? It would want to tell me the gossip, the things it has witnessed.
Stadium.
Stadium seems out of place. But also I realise we won’t be able to tell the difference between what belongs and what doesn’t.
Dog
Dog withering.
